Rendered.ai is pleased to announce the expansion of our collaboration with the DIRS Lab to put the power of DIRSIG in the hands of customers around the world!

Remote sensing imagery is used to monitor and map environmental changes and urban growth. With the increasing pace of collection of remote sensing imagery around the world, Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for Computer Vision (CV) will be essential for extracting knowledge and insight from Earth Observations data for use in analytical and reporting systems to address critical business and societal issues.

Rendered.ai was established to combine the power of cloud-based processing and job management with physically accurate simulation for the purposes of generating synthetic Computer Vision (CV) data to help data scientists overcome the limitations of using real sensor data to train AI.

DIRSIG, developed by RIT’s DIRS Laboratory, is a leading simulation tool for multi-spectral, hyperspectral, RGB, lidar, and other passive and active sensor data forms. DIRSIG has been relied upon as a source of simulated sensor data for purposes of innovation, training, and testing for years and has undergone rigorous government and academic scientific validation.

Our collaboration helps to bridge gaps in the scientific and government community due to insufficient data. Scientists and CV engineers can now access high-quality synthetic content without requiring specialization in simulation technologies to test, analyze, and explore our impacts on the world around us. In addition, Rendered.ai customers are able to access DIRSIG without additional training required. Users will be able to reference the training and documentation available in our PaaS on how to use DIRSIG in a Rendered.ai synthetic data channel.

To learn more and to explore how DIRSIG is packaged within Rendered.ai, sign up for a trial account and use the content code “DIRSIGDEMO” to get started with a workspace set up to show you what is possible with DIRSIG on the cloud. The trial also provides access to an informational video and a how-to blog on synthetic data with DIRSIG.
